The starting point for your walls.
Where do we even begin? Paint is a hot topic when it comes to interior design/decor.
Some of my most asked questions revolve around what colour someone should paint their home. It makes sense though, as the paint is usually the first step to make your home feel updated and more like a representation of you!
When it comes to paint, there is SO much to consider before spending your money on that best seller neutral colour everyone is talking about on your socials! The biggest lesson here is simply; if it works for someone else’s home there is NO guarantee it's going to work in yours!
To begin, I want to discuss the most common colours people are drawn to these days: warm neutrals!
I have a select go-to that I always use as a starting point when I’m working with clients. AS you can see, some are quite similar while some have very noticeable differences, which is why these colours are a great place to start!
The details;
Chantilly Lace - Benjamin Moore
The perfect white. Now, this white is not for everyone as it typically reads a true bright white. It can be heavily influenced by its surroundings, which means depending on your natural light it can read warmer or cooler which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Chantilly lace is actually used by a lot of builders/ contractors for trim paint because of how white it truly is. I will warn you though, if you choose this beautiful colour, be prepared to do multiple coats because it is very transparent!

Swiss Coffee - Benjamin Moore
This beautiful neutral has taken the world by storm over the past few years and has become an incredibly popular neutral paint colour. This colour reads true to it’s name in my opinion. Still considered a white, it provides plenty of warmth without any aggressive yellow undertones showing through. This is a great soft option for honestly any room in your home!

Toasty Grey - Behr
A fan favourite for sure. Toasty grey is a perfect solution if you're not completely sold on the warmer tones that are currently trending. It offers a very warmer grey tone with a nice amount of pigment making any space feel cosy. I love this colour when it's paired beside a crisp white trim, as it shows off its tones beautifully.

Cotton Knit - Behr
Now this colour is very similar to Swiss Coffee, however this option has a lot more pigment to it, meaning you’re going to see a lot more of the colour on your walls as opposed to a whiter look. This paints as a very creamy beige colour and is beautiful with white trim as well. Since it has so much colour show through, I really like this colour for smaller spaces like a bathroom or bedroom.

White Dove - Benjamin Moore
Bringing it back to the whites, we have White Dove. Another classic white from Benjamin Moore however this one can carry quite a bit of a cooler undertone when its compared to Swiss Coffee for example. I would consider this to be a lighter solution to Toasty Grey as it does provide some grey tones while still staying on the white spectrum. Perfect colour for any room for sure.

Simply White - Benjamin Moore
Finishing off with another very white option, Simply White offers an incredibly bright feel with a bit more of a warmth than Chantilly Lace. Simply White can show some yellow undertones if it gets a lot of natural sunlight however it can also read true white when the beautiful sun isn’t glaring onto it. Simply White is also often used as a trim pain and very commonly used as a paint colour for kitchen cabinets if you’re on the hunt for a perfect trim white!
